Metro Ethernet

DFN’s large, fiber-based network is ideal for customers needing private, secure, high-performance, & low latency connections between locations. Our Metro Ethernet solutions are perfect for cell site backhaul, carrier access into regional markets, as well as enterprise locations that may require diverse pathing options. Service level agreements (SLA) are available with industry-leading uptime and performance guarantees.    

• Ethernet Private Line (EPL) – A high-performance, point-to-point connection between two locations. Also known as an E-Line service, it provides a dedicated, secure link ideal for data-intensive applications or real-time communications like voice or video. EPL enables fast and private communication between your sites, regardless of their geographic location. Speeds available from 1Gbps to 10Gbps.  
  
  Common Use Cases: Data center interconnects, enterprise office-to-office connectivity, and secure private transport.
• Ethernet Local Area Network (ELAN) – Allows you to connect multiple locations to a central hub using a hub-and-spoke multipoint configuration. Each remote site (or “spoke”) communicates directly with the central hub, but not with each other. This setup is ideal for businesses that need centralized access to resources like databases, applications, or shared storage.
  
  Also known as: Multipoint Ethernet or E-LAN.
  Ideal for: Organizations with a headquarters or main data center supporting multiple branch offices.
• Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) – A flexible and scalable solution for connecting multiple locations in an any-to-any or multipoint-to-multipoint configuration. Unlike ELAN, all connected sites can directly communicate with one another without routing traffic through a central hub. This reduces network complexity, improves performance, and helps lower costs by aggregating traffic onto a single, secure Ethernet network.
  
  Also known as: Virtual E-Line or multipoint-to-multipoint Ethernet.
   Ideal for: Distributed enterprises, collaboration between branch offices, and dynamic data exchange across multiple sites.
• Cell Site Backhaul – DFN provides direct fiber connections to over a 100+ cell tower sites throughout Southern Oregon. Our large fiber network provides most of our communities with access to 4G LTE and even 5G, enabling high-capacity connections to both small cell and macro-cell sites. We can work directly with any cellular providers, or with carriers to provide last-mile fiber access.
