Terminology
SSID
The SSID is the name of the wireless network. For example, if you want to connect to your wireless network and on your computer, you look for BillysWireless, The SSID of that wireless circuit is BillyWireless.
Pre-shared Key or WPA/WAPI passphrase
This would be your wireless password
Routers
To set up or change your wireless password you must first be connected to your router via a wired or wireless connection. While a wired connection is always recommended for greater speed and reliability, it is often inconvenient to have Ethernet cables strung all over your house, and expensive to have DFN or a contractor run these wires for you. That is where wireless comes to the rescue. For help connecting to your DFN supplied router, please see our Troubleshooting Wireless page. To change your wireless please find the router type that you have below.

To manage your SSID and password make sure that your router is connected to the internet (this can be done by making sure that the internet light is illuminated on your router) Open a web browser and enter into the address bar at the top of the page 192.168.1.1 and press enter. What is the address bar? Click here You will then come to a DFN page asking you for your username and password. The username will have been set up by you when you signed up for service. If this is the first time you have been to this page then you will be prompted to change your password. From this page, you will be able to change your wireless SSID and Passphrase and set up port forwards. *If you are unable to access the Control panel please make sure your Router is connected to the internet. By Default, the Wireless SSID and password will be printed on the white label located on the rear of the router. To manage your SSID and password Open a web browser and enter into the address bar at the top of the page 192.168.1.1 and press enter. What is the address bar? Click here Once the page loads you will see a blue page asking for a username and password. The username and password are listed on the white label on the back of the router, you may be asked to change your password, which you are able to skip if desired or you can change to your desired password. *Note the router is only accessible from a local connection. No-one other than DFN would be able to access the router from the internet.* Once the page has loaded you will see a number of Icons across the bottom of the page, Hover(not click) the “Network Setting” icon and then click the Wireless option. * This router broadcast on two bands 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. To change the SSID and password please follow these steps.
- Click the arrow next to Band and select 2.4 GHz.
- Scroll down to Wireless Network Name and enter the name you would like the wireless to be known by(For Example; DFNWireless).
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page, under Security Mode uncheck the box that says Generate password automatically
- In the field that says Password enter your wireless password
- At the bottom of the page Click Apply Return to Step one and select the second Band and repeat steps 2 – 5

- Select the Wireless link on the left side of the page, then the Basic link that will appear below it. Change the SSID field in the center of the page. scroll to the bottom of the page and click Apply/Save.
- On the left side of the page Click Security, in the WPA/WAPI passphrase, enter your wireless password. scroll to the bottom of the page and click Apply/Save then reboot the router.

Click here once the page load you will see a page asking for a username and password. The username will be “user” and password will be “p4ssw0rd”(without the “). If that password does not work you will need to contact DFN Technical Support for assistance.
Do Not press and hold the WPS button on the back of this device as this will erase this router to factory defaults.****Note if the device has been factory defaulted the username and password will be admin****
- On the top right of the page click the Wireless tab.

- Click 2.4GHz Wireless Tab on the left side of the page. Make sure Wireless Module is enabled in the center of the page.
- Click Basic Settings
- Change the SSID (For Example; DFNWireless).
- Click Apply and then Continue (Do not click Apply a second time as this will cause the router to reboot and force you to log in again)
- Click Security Settings on the left side of page and change Pre-shared Key in center to your desired password
- Click Apply and then Continue
- In the field that says Password enter your wireless password
- At the bottom of the page Click Apply (Do not click Apply a second time as this will cause the router to reboot and force you to log in again)
- Click 5GHz Wireless tab on left side of the page. Make sure Wireless Module is enabled in the center of the page.
- Click Basic Settings
- Change the SSID (For Example; DFNWireless).
- Click Apply and then Continue (Do not click Apply a second time as this will cause the router to reboot and force you to log in again)
- Click Security Settings on the left side of page and change Pre-shared Key in center to your desired password
- Click Apply and then Apply a second time, the router will then reboot. (takes approximately 2 minutes)
Router will now use your new SSID and password for wireless.
